F-Sport versions have a new grille and rear spoiler. The interior features metallic trim.
The Lexus ESH was unveiled in Beijing. It now enters its seventh generation. The latest version of this sedan has a sleek design that draws inspiration from the angular LHS and LCH. The four-door is also getting larger.
The ES is more sleek due to its lower roof, which creates a coupe-like profile. Lexus hasn’t abandoned its polarizing spindle grille. The new version is larger than ever and features vertical bars in the middle. The rear of the vehicle is heavily chiseled and features L-shaped LED taillights.
For now, Lexus does not provide powertrain information for ES 350 in the United States. The 3.5-liter V6 produces 300 horsepower (355 Newton-meters) and 262 poundfeet (355 kilowatts). This equates to 28 hp and 14 Lb-ft more than the previous generation. The new mill can be connected to an eight-speed automatic. The specs of the ES300h are not mentioned in the company’s press release.
The New Global Architecture-K platform is where the new ES will be found. To reduce weight, the underpinning is made of more high-strength metal than in previous generations. Lexus does not specify how much weight the sedan will lose. The company claims that the torsional rigidity of the sedan is comparable to the larger Global Architecture L platform found in the LS. The ES increases by 2.6 inches (65 mm) to 195.9 in (4,975 mm overall), which means that the new model is longer than the 193.5-inch (4.914.9-mm-) GS. The wheelbase is now 50 mm longer and the vehicle is also 1.7 inches (45mm) wider.
There are many design cues that the LS has left inside. The center stack features a 12.3-inch infotainment display and a touchpad. The new Rich Cream interior upholstery option combines off-white leather and a brown headliner.
The new ES will go on sale in the second half of this year. More details will be available closer to the launch.
