2020 Chevy Corvette A8 Looks Great with Front-Engine Layout

This is a Corvette taken from an alternate dimension.

The 2020 Chevy Corvette C8 marked a major shift in the American sports car. The layout changed from a front-mid-engine one to a rear-mid-engine one. This was a major change that many have been speculating about for decades, with General Motors occasionally hinting that a rear-engine Corvette was just around the corner. The C8 was the final piece of the puzzle, but many people are still curious about what a front-engine C8 Corvette Corvette would look like today. The Sketch Monkey YouTube channel has the answer to that question.

Surprisingly, the C8’s conversion is not as dramatic as you might think. The greenhouse has been moved forward on rear mid-engine cars to make space at the rear. For front mid-engine cars the greenhouse is pushed back to allow for engine space ahead of occupants. This video makes it easy to Photoshop cars. The greenhouse is moved to the rear over the rear wheels.

The Corvette’s hood is longer and the Corvette’s side has less air intake behind it. A front fender vent returns behind the wheel instead – an iconic Corvette design element that has been seen in several generations. The Sketch Monkey also removes many of the more pronounced design elements of the C8.

It is possible that we could live in a world in which the C8 Corvette looks very similar to the one shown in the video. This is possible, even if GM never granted engineers or designers permission to use the rear-engine layout. We will never see another front-engine Corvette. It’s unlikely, and we don’t want to be the ones who put the genie back in a bottle. The Corvette might still look great if that happens.
