You get a little more N-Line and a lot more power.
What are the essential ingredients for making a modified version of a previously plebian mode? A small crossover can be given some subtle body modifications, cool vents and maybe a wing. The Hyundai Kona already has that, thanks to the recently released Kona N-Line. This exclusive rendering goes a little further.
Hyundai does a decent job of not going crazy with bodywork on small pocket rockets. With the N-Line already being a thing Hyundai’s interpretation only accentuates these additions. The wheel arches are more prominent and the rocker cladding is larger.
What you cannot see will be of greater importance. According to various sources, the Kona may still share the same mill as the VelosterN. This would mean either 250 horsepower or 275 horsepower (186 kilowatts or 205 kilowatts), from a turbocharged 2.0 liter engine. Since the Kona’s primary mission is to move people, the eight-speed dual-clutch dual-clutch gearbox would shift. It will also have all-wheel drive, which sounds a lot like the Veloster. This could make it a seriously fun little rally racer.
Only question is, when will it be revealed? We’ve seen prototypes sporting the Hyundai facelift, so we might be talking about weeks. There is a frustrating silence in the rumor mill so we could be talking about several months. Regardless, A Kona N is on the horizon, and it may be well worth the wait.
