2022 Acura MDX TypeS Will Charge You For Performance

It’s still a heck of a lot less than the NSX.

Acura introduced the Type S . This was a sporty version of the brand’s most popular sedan. The Type S treatment pushed the TLX’s cost up to $15,000 , from $38,545 (including a $1.045 destination fee) to at least $53,345. It will see an even greater price increase when the 2022 Acura MDX Type S arrives later in the year.

The Japanese automaker, Honda, announced that the MDX sportiest model will be available “in the high $60,000 range.” This means that the Type S treatment for the three-row crossover could cost up to $20,000 in addition to the base price of $48,245. This simple math is only part of the story.

The Type S trim costs only $6,050 on the TLX for the $15,000 increase. The remainder comes from the prerequisites – the $2,000 Super handling All-Wheel Drive system and the $4,000 Technology package are all mandatory. The MDX Type S is likely to follow the same format. However, the premium seems more dramatic as both the Technology pack ($4,700) and the A-Spec pack ($3,500) cost more on the crossover. The Type S package will likely cost a little more than the TLX due to the higher-end option groups. The enhancements will help to ease the blow.

The MDX Type S replaces standard model’s 3.5 liter V6 engine with a twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter V6. This increases the output from 290 horsepower (216 kilowatts) and 267 poundfeet (362 Newton-meters) to 355 horsepower (264 kW) and 354 lbft (355 hp and 354 lb-ft). This is nothing to be ashamed of. The Type S model also features a 10-speed automatic transmission, adaptive dampers and a new Sport Plus driving mode. Brembo-sourced brakes are stronger than traditional ones and feature flashy red paint.

The Diamond Pentagon grille, which lets in more air and sits over a new front splitter, is an example of aesthetic upgrades. To cool the fascia, there are large intakes at each corner. The Type S’ exterior package includes a rear diffuser, fat quad exhaust pipes, and standard 21-inch wheels. The cabin features a flat-bottom steering column and metal-topped pedals that set the mood for the driver.

Dealers should receive the 2022 Acura MDX type S in December. Stay tuned for a review and rating on this three-row spicy Acura MDX Type S.
