2023 Ford F-150 Electric EV (with Its Motor Exposed)

Or Ford may have the largest rear differential ever.

It’s not the first time that we’ve seen an all-electric Ford F-150. A few test mules in regular F-150 bodies have occasionally graced the spy cam. And Ford’s huge electric F-150 PR stunt was where an F-150 with an EV powered pulled a lot of train cars. This does mark our first look at all of the parts in a final production package. This is our first look at 2023 Ford F-150 Electric.

It’s not exciting, if we’re being honest. The front and rear are covered in heavy camouflage, while the rest of the body is wrapped with a mind-bending body wrap. It is F150 in overall shape, but we don’t think it will look any different to its internal-combustion counterpart. The grille may be a unique, solid design. A teaser by Ford showed a full-width LED lightbar running atop of the grille connecting the headlamps.

We are wondering if Ford will offer an electric truck a trick tailgate or new taillights. The clever and adorable fuel-door cutout in the side camo might fool an average observer who doesn’t have a clear look at the prototype’s backside. We can see the rear axle’s electric motor in the photos.

Additional bracing or protective plates are visible further forward. This could be for a battery pack. We are told that Ford aims for a 300-mile range with its full-size electric pickup. However, a larger battery option may be available for long-range models. Although performance is not yet known, the F-150 should be the fastest and most powerful F-150.

As for availability, Ford already confirmed F-150 EV production starting mid-2022. The 2023 model will be the first to go, although an official debut could occur later in the year.
