Looking much better now.
Last month, was first rendered by our artists when they envisioned the brand’s new bus. There were only minor visual changes to the model. Spy photos from last week revealed that the T7 would sport a new skin, and our friends at Kolesa.ru made the necessary adjustments.
The renderings show a modern design for the new Transporter, with a huge lower grille at its front and sleek headlights. They are linked visually by a thin chrome bar, where the new Transporter is located. Volkswagen The logo proudly resides. The T7’s front fascia is more striking than the T6. At the back, a pair small taillights create a minimalistic design.
With the last set of spy photos, we got a first glimpse at the interior but it was very much a rough-around-the-edges prototype with what looks like a mishmash of current-gen items and placeholder panels. We know that the instrument cluster in higher trims will likely be digital and will have a second large display built into the center console.
Check out the Spy Photos
The Transporter will conceal components from the MQB platform under the new body. It will be able accommodate both traditional gasoline and diesel engines as well as hybrid powertrains. According to sources, it will be available in either a standard or long-wheelbase model. A fully-electric version may also be possible.
Although the latest spy photos clearly show that Volkswagen is making great progress with the development of its new Transporter, the camouflaged exterior as well as interior suggest that there are still at least six to nine more months of work. It is safe to assume that the T7 will not be available before the second-half of next year.
