Mazda’s MZR 2.3 liter DISI turbocharged engine produces power with 191 kW (260 PS), and 380 Nm.
Mazda has revealed new details about the redesigned Mazda3 MPS (Mazda Performance Series).
The MPS is based on the Mazda3 hatchback and features sporty styling that makes it stand out from other models. The key design features include an intercooler scoop mounted on the hood, unique front- and rear bumpers, aggressive side skims, and aluminum 18-inch wheels with Dunlop tires. Bi-xenon headlamps are included, as well as a metallic black rear vaance, LED taillights and a huge roof-mounted rear spoiler.
Mazda’s MZR 2.3 liter DISI turbocharged engine produces 191 kW (260 PS) of power and 380 Nm torque. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes just 6.1 seconds. Top speed is limited at 250 km/h (155 mph). The revised 6-speed manual transmission features a torque-sensing, limited-slip differential and a wider gear ratio. Additionally, the drive shafts have been improved to reduce torque steer.
The MPS is now riding on a completely redesigned chassis that features a stiffer suspension, stiffer springs, and higher damping rates. Other improvements include a beefier steering rack for improved steering feel, an electronically-controlled brake assist system, and larger stabilizers for reduced body roll.
The MPS’s interior features a black interior with red accents and aluminum pedals. It also has a redesigned instrument cluster that includes an LCD turbo-boost gauge. Other features include Bluetooth connectivity, sport seats, Bluetooth connectivity and a Bose 10-speaker audio system.
