South Korea: Kia Soul gets a facelift

This funky crossover is getting a mid-cycle refresh for its domestic market.

We now know exactly what was underneath the camouflage Kia applied to a Soul prototype that it was testing in Death Valley last month. We also see new HID headlamps and different LED daytime running lamps. The bumper has also been slightly redesigned, and the LED taillight graphics were updated. The exterior changes are completed by two new sets of 18-inch alloy wheels, along with an optional Style Up package.

The cabin is quite empty. However, Kia will expand the range of trim options and offer the KDM-spec Soul in a new two tone brown finish. We’d prefer brighter colors to match the car’s funkiness.

South Korea: Kia Soul gets a facelift

2017MY Soul should get the same exterior and interior updates as its European counterpart. Kia Motors America already confirmed that the crossover would be turbocharged in the winter. It will likely get the Forte5’s 1.6-liter with 201 horsepower (150 Kilowatts) as well as 195 pound-feet (246 Newton-meters).

Tomorrow will bring us more details about the Korean Soul. We’ll also learn about the changes that are being made to the facelift. Kia South Korea uploaded a promo video on YouTube for the new Soul.
