The Fiat Panda 4×4 is Fiat’s most rugged model. It was unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
Fiat is advertising this new Panda as the only 4×4 model in the A-segment. As you would expect, it is based on the standard 5-door Panda hatchback and it is 3680mm long, 1670mm wide and 1600mm tall, with a 2300mm wheelbase. It has a front track of 1410mm and a rear track of 1400mm, while the styling looks a bit more rugged when compared to the regular variant.
The ride height has been raised and we notice the plastic body cladding, underbody protection and aluminum accents. It has 15-inch alloys with 175/65 R15M+S rubbers, and an “torque on Demand” transmission system that includes electronically controlled coupling and two differentials. This Panda’s permanent four-wheel drive system is controlled by an electronic control unit. It can distribute the amount “homogenously” or “proportionally” according to road conditions.
2013 Fiat Panda 4×4 will come with either a TwinAir Turbo gasoline engine producing 84 horsepower (63 kW), or a MultiJet II diesel making 74 horsepower (55 kW). Both engines have stop/start and can be connected to a 6-speed manual transmission that features a low-range, first gear.
The suspension is composed of an independent MacPherson arrangement at the front and an interconnected wheel with torsion beam structure at the back. This 4WD Panda variant was specifically designed.
