You have amazing roof rails.
Ah, the Dacia Sandero. Thanks to a motoring show host whose name rhymes Tameshay, the hatchback’s fame has grown far beyond Romania. Although we know that a new Sandero will be arriving later in the year, a new batch of spy photos shows that Daciadesigner still enjoys the return of the Stepway-ish crossover.
The Sandero Stepway has the same underpinnings as the standard Sandero. However, it is connected to the Renault Clio. The Stepway’s upgrades are mostly cosmetic and include fender flares and roof rails as well as special fascias for front and rear. Although there is still camo on the test car, some of the corners have been reshaped to allow for vents and lamps.
We are also taken inside to see the four-spoke steering wheel of the Sandero, which is very similar to the model you will find in the new batch. A clear shot of the large touchscreen display is also shown. It looks very plastic under bright sunlight. The housing could have been used for testing purposes as there is still plenty of camouflage and testing gear throughout the interior. This conceals details such as the dash and door panels.
The Sandero’s bones, which are difficult to see, almost certainly represent a cheaper version of Renault’s CMF–B platform that is shared with the Clio. On this Stepway prototype, rear drum brakes can be clearly seen. Under the hood, we expect to see a modified version of the 1.0-liter TCe gasoline motor which currently produces 100 horsepower (75 kW). The dCI 95 diesel engine could also be offered.
The current thinking is that the new Sandero model will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2021 for European buyers. There is also the possibility that the Stepway will be unveiled at Paris Motor Show.
