Jean Todt, president of the FIA insists that Bulgaria wasn’t even close to organising a round for the F1 world championship.

According to reports, the Bulgarian Motorcycling Federation met with Bernie Ecclestone before scrapping plans due to financial reasons. They even received a contract for the race season 2011-2015.

Todt, however, revealed to Sofia that the FIA had never been asked to sanction a Belgian Grand Prix while he was in Bulgaria to discuss the southeastern European republic’s world rally round 2010.
