At a recent contest, the entire engine of the tractor-pulling semi truck “Jacked Up” was thrown out of its frame.
This could be the most absurd tantrum a vehicle has ever experienced.
The semi-truck tractor-pulling tractor known as “Jacked Up”, was participating in the National Tractor Pulling Championship, Bowling Green, Ohio. Jack Kielmayer, a driver, was in sixth place and put the hammer down for what appeared to be a normal run. Then, all hell broke loose.
, the massive Caterpillar diesel engine, was clearly fed up with its daily grind and decided to make a run for it. It exploded out of the hood with a great thud.
This is not about the cylinder head blowing out of the block. All above and below the crankcase were ejected from the engine bay. Evidently, the cylinder block broke at the base of cylinder bores and the turbo boost propelled the top half upwards.
The explosion caused severe damage to the roof, grilles, firewall, cowling, windshield and firewall.
To remove the motor’s remains from the track, it took a large forklift.
Jacked Up Motorsport, the company that built the truck, hasn’t indicated the cause of the accident or whether it plans to rebuild. It is possible that the entire rig was damaged by the forces.
On its Facebook page, the team posted images of the damage.
It’s a minor miracle that neither the driver nor a spectator were hurt. At least 1,000 pounds (450 kg) of iron flew. Ironically, most of the moving parts were contained so injuries could not have been caused by the engine bursting. If the head had been blown off, the valves, springs and pistons could have been sent flying around the area like bullets.
