Mercedes-Benz S-Class Gets Less Camo

Although the overall design isn’t too different, there are many new tech features.

The next-gen Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan has been a common sight in spy photos in recent years. However, a new set of photos captures a test mule that was less camouflaged during development in the United States.

Engineers remove a bit of the camouflage on the front to reveal the shape of the lower fascia. The piece is spanned by horizontal slats, and the grille follows a similar design. The grille’s solid part likely conceals many sensors that are used to assist the driver.

Based on spy photos, the covers that cover the doors conceal the pop-out handles . This design gives the sedan a smooth appearance on the road.

It is clear from the back that these spy photos show two test mules. The lower fascia of one of the test mules has a black cover and taped sections. This is likely to be for additional sensors. Camouflage is used at the rear of the other car.

Spy shots on the inside reveal that the S-Class features a large, tablet-like display at the center console. The latest information suggests that the new model will be a technological wonder. These systems will include cutting-edge assistance technology and highly developed headlights capable projecting shapes and words onto the road.

The 2020 unveiling of the new S-Class is expected. It will be available in the United States in time for the 2021 model-year. We know from spy shots that a more luxurious Maybach variant has been in development and will arrive sooner. There are many powertrain options available, from high-powered AMG models to highly efficient electrified options.
