Peugeot would likely sell the baby crossover under the brand name 1008.
Peugeot was last seen testing its tiny crossover test mule back in August 2017. A new batch of spy photos of the small SUV has now arrived. Although the overall design has not changed, the French team has tweaked some elements.
Peugeot calls the small crossover the 1008, and the test mule still makes extensive usage of body panels starting at 208. However, the small crossover’s higher ride height and bolt on fender flares make it stand out.
This new test mule’s front end (above right) isn’t much different from the one before it. The hood pins have been removed and the body looks cleaner and more finished now than it did in the previous test mule.
Rear changes are more noticeable. There is no tow hitch and the rear fascia has been revised with one cutout for exhaust.
The profile of the rear wheels doesn’t seem to fit into the arches properly. This could suggest that the 1008 will have a slightly longer wheelbase.
The Peugeot 1008 would be at the bottom of the crossover range. It would be below models like the 2008 or 3008. This small vehicle will use a variety of tunes from a three-cylinder engine. Although front-wheel drive is the only option, buyers have the option to choose between an optional manual or automatic.
Although it is not clear when the 1008 will debut, the use of a 208 body for the cover suggests that the crossover isn’t yet ready. The final design might be revealed next year, but we don’t yet know if the vehicle will go on sale.
