Opel has revealed new information about the 2011 Astra Sports Tourer.

The ST is designed to appeal to young families and features dynamic styling, including a steeply raked windshield and trapezoidal grille.

The cabin has a symmetrical dashboard and a sporty steering column. FlexFold rear seats can be folded at the touch of a button. It also has a 1,550 liter (54.7 cubic feet) luggage capacity. There are several options, including ergonomic front seats, a 315-watt Infinity soundsystem and GPS navigation.

There will be a range of four-cylinder engines under the hood. There are four options for petrol: a naturally-aspirated 1.4-liter with 100 PS/99 hp, a turbocharged turbocharged with 88kW (120 PS/118 hp and 103kW (140PS/138 hp), an naturally-aspirated 1.6-liter (85 PS/114 hp), and turbocharged with 132kW (180 PS/177 hp).

There are two diesel options: a 1.7-liter with 110 PS /109 hp and a 92kW (125 PS/123 hp), as well as a 2.0 liter with 118kW (162 PS /158 hp).

Opel will soon introduce a 1.3-liter CDTI with 70 kW (95 PS/94 hp) & 190 Nm (135 lb-ft). The Astra will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 14.9 seconds, and reach a maximum speed of 172 km/h (107 MPH). Although it is not fast, the combined fuel consumption will be 4.1 l/100km (57.5 mpg US), with CO2 emissions as low at 109 g/km.

The redesigned model will be available at European dealerships starting in November.
