The new Lamborghini Countach will be coming. But while we wait, the trailer for House of Gucci gives us a reminder of its legendary status in motoring. Ridley Scott directed this film, which features a powerful cast including Adam Driver, Lady Gaga and Al Pacino. The Lamborghini vintage is in good company.

The movie, which is named after the Gucci family, retells their history and explains how they built their empire in high fashion. The trailer from MGM has already received 10 million YouTube views, so it looks great. The futuristic-looking Countach of Sant’Agata Bolognese grabs our attention. It’s a timely appearance considering that 2021 marks 50 year since the prototype supercar’s debut in 1971. It was the successor of the Lamborghini Miura in 1974, another remarkable legend.

25th anniversary Countach

The preview video gives us a glimpse at a Countach 25th anniversary model. It was created between 1988 and 1990 to celebrate Lamborgini’s performance history.

The 25th Anniversary Countach had many improvements. As many as 3,000 of the 8,000 parts were made specifically for this occasion. The 5.2 V12 engine was still in use by the 1985 Countach Quattrovalvole. A new setup and Ferrari Testarossa-inspired aerodynamics were used. The engine produced 455 horsepower (339 Kilowatts) as well as 370 pound-feet (511 Newton-meters), at a time when 250 horses in a muscle car were rare. It was capable of reaching 186 mph (300 km/h) straight-out and was the last song of the long-lived Countach. Before the Diablo, 658 copies were made.

The Countach in Movies

It’s not the first time a Lamborghini Countach has appeared on screen. Younger fans will remember the Lambo’s appearance as a driver in 2013’s The Wolf of Wall Street. This movie was driven by Jordan Belfort, Leonardo DiCaprio. The moment that made the Countach a household name was 1981’s The Cannonball Run. It featured an LP400S teasing with a Pontiac Firebird pursuit car from the California Highway Patrol. Although slightly exaggerated, the pseudo-documentary described the final Brock Yates-led Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash.

As mentioned, the Countach will feature in Ridley Scott’s new film. He is joined by a stellar cast that tells the story of Guccio Guccio Gucci’s rise to prominence in high fashion, starting with the eponymous label. Although the movie will be in theaters by November, we should see the new Countach in any form he takes sooner than that.
