ABT promises more power for a lower price, but exterior and suspension modifications can be added.
The Audi R8 latest ABT Sportline treatment is for the base model. That is, if you consider a 5.2-liter V10 with 540 horsepower a base motor. ABT offers a power package that adds 70 horsepower to the V10, making the base R8 perform similar to the PLUS model, but at a lower cost.
The tuner does not mention any specific changes or additions made to pull the additional 70 horsepower.
ABT will gladly send you on your journey with 610 horsepower if you don’t need it. You can upgrade your R8 with many other upgrades, including the Street and Race body kits. These add aero tweaks, such as a front skirt and rear panel, and a stainless steel exhaust system for an additional 20 horsepower.
The Racing kit adds blades to the front and sides, as well as wheelhouse vents. This reduces the car’s weight by 110 pounds. ABT offers an upgraded suspension system with height-adjustable springs and sport stabilizer bars to help handle the extra power.
These upgrades are available for the coupe and Spider models. However, once you get past the power upgrade, expect to pay more than what you would for a Plus model. ABT’s exterior modifications are delectable and may be worth the extra money.
