Two Subarus moving around is better than one.
Gymkhana 11 will debut on December 8th, which is tomorrow. There’s also a teaser video that gives a glimpse at the action. The big surprise is Travis Pastrana’s heavily modified Subaru WRX STI and the new BRZ.
Travis Pastrana, the host of the Gymkhana’s latest event, is taking control of his hometown and performing stunts on the roads. You can expect to see some big jumps, a motorcycle and a stunt plane. Also, you will be sliding around docks while trying to avoid falling into the water. This marina welcomes the new BRZ to tandem drift with the STI.
This video shows Pastrana leaping the STI between the docks, while a speedboat crosses below. To clear the obstacles, the car must catch a lot of air.
Pastrana drives a custom-built STI around the neighborhood. The custom boxer engine has exhausts that go vertically out the hood. The suspension has been upgraded to handle the large jumps. The body has massive fenders and a large wing.
The BRZ is shown in the video as stock. The new coupe features a naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter four cylinder boxer engine with 228 horsepower (170kilowatts), and 184 poundfeet (249newton-meters). You can choose between a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. Engineers made the car more rigid, but it is lighter by only 17 pounds.
The 2022 BRZ will not be available for purchase until next fall. This means that there will be a long wait to see one in the showrooms. The coupe will be shown off at Gymkhana 11.
