It’s actually quite simple to manage 702 horsepower.
Ram dropped a Hellcat VIII in its 1500 pickup. Since the Rebel TX concept was first introduced, we knew it would happen. The TRX test mules sealing the deal. It remains to be determined if that much power can be used off the pavement, but it is certain that it will be fast on tarmac. It should, at least in theory.
This is because catchmeoffroad posted a video on Instagram showing a TRX using its launch controller in a parking garage. This environment is too cramped for running, so the sprint is a very short one. Ram claims that the TRX can reach 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds if there is enough space. However, the truck does look a little slow off the line.
It also lurches when revs are increased. Perhaps this is just brake torque and not a full-on launch control charge? The Instagram post is all we can see, so take the video at face value.
The TRX is more than three tonnes. Ram did more than just put in the Hellcat. The TRX’s frame received many strengthening and reinforcements, so that 25% is shared with the 1500 pickups. This mass will not accelerate at lightning speed, even with 702 horsepower (523 Kilowatts).
The TRX also has a variety of heavy-duty components underneath that can add weight and absorb power. There is also 14 inches of suspension travel at its back. The truck does have a tendency to squeal on takeoff. This is accompanied by the raucous, raspy V8 exhaust note. The TRX is loud and proud, and the Launch Edition has long since sold out , so there’s plenty of people eager to take it for an inspection.
This will be possible quickly, since TRX Launch Edition deliveries are expected to begin before the end the year.
