In a year, the electric truck will arrive.
Yesterday saw the full launch of the revived Hummer. This storied nameplate is now owned by an all-electric truck that offers huge capabilities and a high price. Although it’s not for everyone, the Edition 1 model is a popular choice for those who are willing to pay at least $112 595.
Electrek reports that the 2022 GMC Hummer EV is sold out in its first year of existence. It’s said that the Edition 1 has been “reserved out” because no sales or deliveries will take place before next year. A quick glance at GMC’s official reservations site reveals a message that confirms that Edition 1 is no longer available.
The message states, “If you wish to be added on to the Edition 1 waiting list, please reserve another trim, and then click the waitlist box in the reservation form. We will notify you when an Edition 1 becomes available.” You can still apply for the other trims, but you must confirm that you are willing to pay an extra fee and receive the Edition 1 in the event someone cancels.
For the 2022 model year, the Edition 1 will be available as the only model. The Edition 1 will be joined by an EV3X model, which starts at $99.995 approximately one year after production began. It will feature an adaptive suspension and a three-motor powertrain.
The $89,995 Hummer Evo 2X will be available in Spring 2023 with the same adaptive suspension and a two-motor electric vehicle system. A year later, Spring 2024 will see a new base model, the two-motor EV2 model, starting at $79,995.
