The Project 8 is the best option for a powerful XE.
The XE is limited to 300 copies worldwide and costs nearly $190,000. Although many had hoped that a few of these performance cues would eventually trickle into a more docile performance vehicle, such as the BMW M3, Jaguar doesn’t appear to be planning to add more power to its XE any time soon.
Interview with Car and Driver at New York Auto Show. Duncan Smith, senior programs manager for SVO said that Jaguar does not plan to compete with Mercedes-AMG or BMW M with the XE. The company wants to be different and differentiate itself, so it tailors different projects to different vehicles based on needs, as we saw with the XE Project 8 as well as the F-Type Project 7 prior.
Smith said that “The Project 8 was an extreme example of what the XE can do.” There is little chance of another V8-powered XE. Buyers will be content with the current range-topping XE S. It is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 that produces 380 hp (283 kW) and costs $53,270.
You can choose either the F-Type SVR, or the F-Pace SVR if you want V8 power. The F-Type SUV’s supercharged 5.0-liter eight-cylinder motor produces 575 horsepower (428 kW) and the F-Type SUV’s 550 horsepower (410 kW). Rumours suggest that the company may be developing a high-performance version its new I-Pace SUV.
