It’s terrible news, I fear.
It is no surprise that the Toyota Mirai with James May are a perfect match. Peanut butter and jelly might be close, but the Mirai provides May with everything he needs from his road driving experience. It might surprise you to learn that he is selling his. Why?
First, Mirai owners who are based in the U.K. face a problem with the number of filling stations. There are only 11. The Japanese car uses a hydrogen fuel cells under the hood. The central power unit then transfers energy to the floor-mounted lithium-ion battery of 1.24 kilowatts per hour that powers an electric motor attached at the rear wheels.
We were surprised to learn that Captain Slow sold his Mirai because it wasn’t exciting enough. May found the driving experience to be pleasant despite its 152 horsepower (11.3 kilowatts). The Japanese automaker may be happy to hear that May compared the driving experience with the Bentley Continental GT, despite his reservations about the vehicle.
It would be remiss to not mention that, contrary to his nickname of “Ferrari 458 Speciale”, the decision to move to a more interesting car makes some sense. May was an automotive pundit and owned many interesting cars, including the Ferrari 458 Speciale as well as the Ferrari 308 GTB. However, he sold the classic Italian car. The candidate to replace Mirai is still unknown.
We know that a DriveTribe video will soon be made showing the process of getting his hot rod keys. Let us know which vehicle you believe will replace Mr. May’s Toyota Mirai in the comments section below.
