German wagon with twin-turbo V8 engine? Take our money, shut up!
Motor1.com almost everyone loves wagons. We love them big and comfortable. Unfortunately, we don’t have many options in this SUV-dominated market. However, there are still many brands that are loyal to long-roof people-haulers. Alpina is one such tuning company that specializes in BMW products. It actually has the most unique wagon on the planet.
It’s the Alpina Bi-Turbo that we’re referring to. The BMW 5 Series Touring is basically the same thing, but with tons of performance and visual upgrades. It also has a 4.4-liter V8 twin turbo engine. Alpina cars are made on the same production lines that standard BMW cars, so it’s the only way you can get a BMW wagon with V8 while still maintaining the factory warranty.
A new video of Shmee gives us the opportunity to drive the wagon in Austria near Salzburg. This video shows the exterior, interior and engine of the wagon, which Shmee claims is the fastest in the world. Although we don’t know if this is true, it’s impossible to imagine any other wagon capable of traveling at least 200 miles an hour (322 km per hour).
The M550i’s 4.4-liter engine produces 608 horsepower (453kW) and the wagon can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds. It’s impressive. Shmee says that the car does this in style and comfort, without any sense of drama. The car is an absolute sleeper with incredible capability, but not shouting about it.
Take a look at the video and let us know if you have any suggestions for a faster wagon currently on sale.
