Skoda was quiet about engine specifications when they introduced the 2013 Octavia. The company is now open to sharing a lot of information.
There will be four turbocharged petrol engines, including:
A 1.2-liter TSI with an 86 HP (63kW) and 160 Nm (128 lb-ft.) of torque
A 1.2-liter TSI Green tec containing 105 HP (77 kW), and 175 Nm (135 lb-ft).
A 1.4-liter TSI Green tec generating 140 HP (103 kW), and 250 Nm (1184 lbft) of torque.
A 1.8-liter TSI Green tec generating 180 HP (132 kW), and 250 Nm (284 lb-ft).
Four turbocharged diesel engines will also be available, including:
A 1.6-liter TDI engine with 90 HP (66 kW), and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft).
A 1.6-liter TDI Green tec TDI Green tec has 105 HP (77 kW), and 250 Nm (1184 lbft) of torque.
A 1.6-liter TDI GreenLine TDI GreenLine with 110 HP (81 kW).
A 2.0-liter TDI Green tec engine with 150 HP (110 kW), and 320 Nm (236 lbft) of torque.
It can be attached to either a 5-speed manual transmission, 6-speed manual transmission, or a 7-speed DSG gearbox, depending on the engine selected.
These engines are also part of Volkswagen’s new EA211 and EA288 (diesel), family. They are lighter in weight, have less internal friction and better thermal management.
