Toyota Supra Spied without Extra Layers of Disguise

Look at the double-bubble roof!

We are eagerly awaiting the Geneva Motor Show and to see if Toyota will bring its new Supra along to the Swiss event. According to recent rumors, we will not see the GTE Supra race car at the show. However, it will give us an idea of the future production version.

We have yet another set of spy photos featuring a prototype Supra, but we will be there until then. Although we’ve seen the Japanese company test its latest sports car many times before, this new set of photos gives us a better look at the coupe.

The fake body panels are gone and it is now possible to see the final production lines. The large air intakes on the front bumper are clearly visible, as well as the shape of the headlights. This trial car’s tin camouflage foil is not strong enough to conceal the air intakes in its rear fenders. They are likely providing cold air for the brakes.

Despite the massive amounts of snow on its rear bumper, it is possible to see the shape and contour of the rear diffuser much better than ever. The prototype is also wearing its production taillights, which feature a sleek design with LED technology.

The debate continues about the powertrain for the 2018 Supra. The latest reports suggest that a 3.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine will be under the hood. A leaked specification sheet states that it will produce 335 horsepower (250 Kilowatts) as well as 332 pound-feet (332 Newton-meters), which will then be sent to the wheels via an eight-speed auto gearbox.

A 2.0-liter turbo engine is being considered for an entry-level model. It has 195 horsepower (145 kW) in Europe and 248 horsepower (185 kw). In the USA, it has 248 hp (248 kW). The new Supra is 3,298 lb (1,496 kg) in weight and will use 225/50 17 inch tires at the front and 255/45 17 inch rubber at its back.
