However, eight models will be added or updated by 2020.

Today’s major announcement marks the beginning of the reconstruction of Opel, and its British subsidiary Vauxhall. The German brand will soon axe the Adam, Karl and Cascada models in order to improve its model lineup and focus on high-volume segments.

This announcement comes only weeks after Vauxhall announced that it would kill the Adam Rocks immediately. It was confirmed earlier this year that the replacements for the Zafira van, Astra GTC two door coupe, and Astra GTC four-door sedan won’t be made.

Opel will also launch eight new or updated vehicles as part of the “Pace!” production program. This is from 2019 to 2020. Opel hopes to have one of Europe’s newest models when the process is completed.

Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller says, “In a context where drastic CO2 norms are in effect, it’s our responsibility for shaping a sustainable future of our company and for our dealers with a highly competive portfolio for passenger- and light commercial vehicles.” Opel will provide fun-to-drive and emotionally designed models, including high-competitive light commercial vehicles like the Vivaro and Combo.

The Vivaro will get a new generation next year, both in passenger and LCV versions. A new Corsa, one that benefits from technology developed in collaboration with Opel’s new owners, PSA, will be unveiled in 2019. In 2020, the Mokka X will be replaced by a new model. This will “play a pivotal part in the strategy to increase the percentage of SUV sales at Opel from 25% to 40% by 2021.”

Opel will open order books in the summer 2019 for the plug–in hybrid versionGrandland X, and the all electric version Corsa. Opel will offer four electrified vehicles to its customers by 2020.
