Gemera will also have a high-tech assembly and production facility.
Koenigsegg announced an extensive update to its factory in Angelholm (Sweden). There are many improvements planned for the facility, including a new factory for the Koenigsegg Gemera as well as offices, customer lounges, event spaces, showrooms, and retail space.
This expansion will increase the area of the building site to more than 30,000 square metres (7.4 acres). The new facility will join the Angelholm’s 11,000-sqm (2.7 acre) existing facility. As part of its expansion, the company will hire additional staff – another 100 engineers and 150 production workers by 2023 for a total of 800 employees.
The expansion plans also include more warehousing and preproduction space, as well as a unique experience center and an all-new test track. The test track will be located just outside Gemera’s main office building.
The track is infused with technical corners and allows for prototype testing as well as pre-delivery testing. Customers of Koenigsegg could be able to drive home in their supercars by testing them out.
Koenigsegg provided details and images of the plans for the new Gemera plant. The new factory will be connected to Koenigsegg’s existing office building. Its exterior design is inspired by old Swedish factories’ accordion-like layout. Gemera customers will also be able to enjoy a modern customer lounge. The “cinematic” event space can be used for future unveilings and announcements.
