Big Bus Swallowed By Bigger Sinkhole In Pittsburgh

Although there were no injuries, it could cause traffic problems for Steelers fans tonight.

On October 28, a Pittsburgh bus’ rear end collapsed into a hole, causing commuters to have a difficult morning. A Kia’s front also went into the hole. There were no severe injuries but it was necessary to use cranes to lift the bus out. Traffic was also affected by the incident throughout the day.

KDKA CBS2 News reported that the incident occurred around 8:00 AM local. The pavement was damaged when a water main burst beneath the road. The heavy weight of the municipal vehicle caused the bus to collide with the curb when it stopped at a red light. The front ended was left hanging high in the air after the incident.

A spokesperson for KDKA stated that the problem we are facing is that we must lift the Port Authority bus up because there is a Duquesne Light electric vault involved. There are also several gas lines involved. We don’t want any more problems than we already have.

Only one person was aboard the bus at the time. Because of neck pain, paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital. The driver of the bus did not sustain any injuries.
