German police have a new toy: this tuned Ford Mustang GT.

It’s unlikely that you will be pulled over by it. Instead, it has been built to promote the Polizei’s TUNE IT! SAFE! campaign.

Wolf Racing, a local Ford tuning company was contracted to build the Mustang. It is called “Wolf Wide 5.0” and has 20-inch Hankook tires. It also features height-adjustable coilover suspension and a complete bodykit that includes side panels, front and rear aprons, rear diffusers, and a massive rear wing.

The 5.0-liter V8 motor’s power has been increased from 421 horsepower (335 kW) to 455 HP (335 kW). This is enough to reduce the time from 0 to 60 miles per hour (100 km/h) to 4.3 seconds. The top speed is 166 mph (268 kilometers/h).

It is fully dressed in the Polizei livery and equipped with all the blue lights and sirens from Hella. The side windows are also covered with Securlux safety foil to prevent them from shattering.

The TUNE IT! SAFE! SAFE! The initiative is supported by a number of industry and government bodies, parts manufacturers, and the Essen Motor Show (where the Mustang was revealed)

Every year, a new police-spec tuner car will be built to promote the campaign. They have featured a C7 Corvette and an AC Schnitzer BMW 4 Series. In the past, they also included a Brabus Mercedes A-Class and an Abt Audi R8.

Mustang will be touring car shows and other events for the next 12 month to raise awareness about the campaign.
Automakers are teasing police forces with super cars they cannot have. This seems to be a growing trend. This Renault R.S.01 is an example. This Ford Focus RS. The Italian Policia can use their Lamborghini Huracan while on patrol.
