Split headlights will not be available for the large SUV.
Domagoj Duc, BMW’s chief design officer, stated that new designs from Bavaria must be bold and meaningful in an interview with Autocar last month. However, the facelifted version will certainly look bold. Although the full-size luxury SUV is not the first to use split headlights with an LED strip at the top for daytime running lights (although it was), few people knew this.
Modern cars have had this headlight arrangement for a while. The second-generation Citroen C4 Picasso, which was launched in 2013, is an example. Many Skoda SUVs share a similar cluster layout to the Hyundai Santa Fe, but few people thought that BMW would follow this path. This is not only for the X7 but also the next-generation 7 Series and the X8 / XM flagship SUV that will be arriving before the end.
The Kolesa.ru team has created a new rendering that attempts to digitally remove any disguises to showcase the X7’s dramatic facelift. It doesn’t matter if you like it or not. This is not a fabrication. The words were used in an interview with Esquire.
Although the grille will be the same size as before, it won’t extend as far as with some EVs and 4Series Gran Coupe. The front changes will be significant, but we expect the derriere to remain the same. There will be no changes to the LED graphics on the taillights or quad exhaust finishers for the M50i.
The cabin will also see significant modifications. The X7 will get iDrive 8 and side-by-side screens will be added in the same manner as the new 2 Series Active Tourer minivan or the iX electric vehicle. The same configuration has been seen in prototypes of the 3 Series facelift. Eventually, logic will tell us that all cars will be able to switch to BMW’s latest infotainment.
In 2022, the revised BMW X7 will likely be covered. However, the SUV’s status as the flagship SUV will be lost to the X8 / XM, which is expected to be revealed in the coming weeks. It could be a M division model with hybrid powertrain that produces as much as 625 horsepower.
