This is a significant discount from the original $75,000 asking cost.
The Camaro Z/28, which had a 505-horsepower (376 kilowatts) V8 and an estimated $75,000 price, was Chevy’s answer for the Ford Shelbys and Dodge Hellcats. It debuted in 2014 and was Chevy’s answer. The muscle car was equipped with powerful features such as carbon ceramic brakes and sticky Pirelli tires. It also had a stripped interior that helped keep the otherwise heavy coupe on its feet. The Camaro Z/28 was a very expensive car when it first debuted. However, many used models have been listed at a fraction of the original asking price. Road & Track by Bozi Tatarevic, it is easy to see that a lot of 2014 Z/28s have been listed below $40,000 – with one example selling for $35,000. These aren’t old, worn-out Z/28s. A Z/28 with 13,000 miles (20.921 kilometers), is available for $35,000; a Z/28 with only 952 miles (1.532 kilometers), is available for $36,000. These cars are available on an auto auctions website. However, a quick used vehicle search will reveal similar prices.
The asking price of $40,000 represents a dramatic $35,000 drop in price from new. R&T points out that the Z/28’s track-focused personality is a major reason for the substantial price drop. The Z/28 has a stripped-down interior, a thirsty V8 and a manual transmission. This should make it less appealing to those who want something more practical on a daily basis. If you don’t want to buy a three-year-old muscle car, you can always wait for the next version. Rumours suggest that the Z/28 will soon be redesigned and could produce 700 horsepower (521 kW).
