Independently certified, the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro model has an additional 8 horsepower over its predecessor.
Chevrolet announced that the 2011 MY Camaro muscle car will have 8 more horses. The engine’s horsepower rating of 3.6-litre V6 has been recertified at 312 hp (323 kW /316 PS at 6,500rpm) and 278 lb-377 Nm (5,100rpm) respectively. Both independent verifications were done by a third party.
Jim Campbell, US Vice President of Chevrolet Marketing, stated that Camaro’s first year of production was a success. “The 2010 model-year was a great year for us and we intend to continue this momentum.”
Tom Sutter, chief engineer at GM V-6 said that the Camaro’s 2010 horsepower was a conservative rating. “But, we knew that the award-winning engine produced at most the power we claimed. But now, we have certified the engine for this application and verified an additional 8 horsepower.
The 2011 Camaro will also have Head-Up Display. This makes it the second Chevrolet to receive this feature after the Corvette. If specified, the HUD will display information such as car speed, temperature outside, and phone information.
