2018 BMW M3 gets a discreet facelift

You get the M4’s front fascia while the rest of the vehicle remains unchanged.

BMW’s high-performance compact sedan received a light and tuck facelift in May 2015. Now, the M3 will receive a second minor facelift. The only subtle changes to the front fascia have been made to match the facelifted model M4 Coupe. This is phase 2 of the M3’s Life Cycle Impulse. It is shown in the lovely Tanzanite Blue paint scheme that is already available on the 3 Series models.

BMW will begin assembly of 2018MY cars in July. There will be a four month production gap between the two model year. People interested in purchasing the updated M3 car will have to wait at least until August.

The M4’s LCI was upgraded, but there are no upgrades under the hood. Therefore, the 2018 M3 will still have 431 horsepower (317kW) from the biturbo 3.0-liter straight-six engine. The optional Competition Package will increase the power output to 450 horsepower (331 kW). It will allow the sedan to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in just four seconds, when fitted with the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The kit includes the power boost, an adaptive M suspension, 20-inch alloy wheels, and an M exhaust system with black chrome tips. A pair of lightweight sport seats also feature the M signature.

BMW will unveil a stronger M4CS later in the year. It will likely be a less powerful M4 GTS, in the same vein that the 60-unit limited-run Competition Sport sold in Spain last year.
