First images of the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 equipped with BMW M TwinPower technology. New unit will produce 575 PS (423kW/567bhp).
These are some under-the-hood photos of the 2012 BMW F10 M5 that were originally published on M5board.com.
The twin-turbo V8 of 4.4 liters with BMW M TwinPower technology and 7-speed M DCT Drivelogic double clutch gearbox will be coupled to the engine. However, details about the output are still unknown.
We anticipate somewhere around 575 PS (423kW / 567bhp) & 720 Nm (531lb-ft of torque), possibly due to the rumor BMW was experiencing gearbox problems at higher output levels. Original reports put the power at 600 PS. We cannot confirm this, but it is still significantly more powerful than the M5’s previous V10 engine. It also has a 25% reduction in fuel consumption.
In September, the Frankfurt motor show will host the debut of the next generation BMW F10 M5
