Two petrol engines will power the coupe-SUV.
The Mazda CX-4 has been officially introduced at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show.
After several teaser photos, CX-4 officially joins the ever-growing SUV lineup by the Japanese manufacturer. It will be a coupe-SUV available only in China. The CX-4 is actually slightly larger than we expected and comes with optional 19-inch alloy wheels. It actually has the same 106.3 inch (2.7-meters) wheelbase as the CX-5, with 7.87 inches (20 centimeters), and standard 17-inch wheels.
The front is dominated with a large trapezoidal radiator grille, flanked by sweptback LED headlights. This design was inspired by the Koeru concept revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The rear bumper features a sleek roofline, which extends to the spoiler. Large fog lights are located at the bottom of the bumper, just below the twin exhaust tailpipes.
You’ll feel at home inside the cabin with its seven-inch tablet-style display for the infotainment and conventional parking brake, instead of the CX-5’s electric brake. The central console houses a dual-zone automatic climate controller and a push-rotary switch that controls the infotainment systems.
Two four-cylinder Skyactiv G petrol engines power the CX-4’s engine lineup. The base powerplant will be a 2.0-liter unit, which produces 158 horsepower (116kilowatts) as well as 149 pound-feet (220 newton meters). Through a six speed automatic gearbox, it sends power to front wheels. The same transmission is used for the all-wheel drive version. It is mated with a 2.5-liter motor of 192 horsepower (141 kW) & 186 lbft (252 Nm). The average fuel consumption is 38 MPG (6.2 liters/100 km), and 32 mpg (7.2 l/100 km) for the 2.5 and 2.0 engines.
