This year, four HUMMER H3-based vehicles are expected to bulldoze their route into SEMA. All have V8 engines, and target markets like outdoor enthusiasts and race fans.
HUMMER will have at least four vehicles representing it at SEMA 2009. These include the H3 Moab concept and the H3T Sportman.
The Moab rim is the inspiration for the former. The 221kW (300hp), H3 Alpha V8 engine produces power. Upgrades include a Rancho 4-inch front suspension lift and a custom rear spring over conversion. 35-inch BF Goodrich Mudterrain KM2 tyres are also available. Additional custom underbody shielding is also available for additional go-anywhere capabilities. Gobi Ranger roof basket and lower grille mounted lamps are included. Front and rear-facing cameras can also be used. Half a dozen off-road basket lamps can also be added.
The H3T Sportsman was designed for outdoor enthusiasts. The H3T Sportsman is a modified Alpha V8 with LS2 cylinder heads and a higher-lift camshaft. This gives it an additional 51kW (70hp). The body-coloured upper grille is complemented by a matte-finished fuel door and right and left-side lockable storage boxes. These can be used to store fishing gear and hunting kit. All-weather floor mats are also included.
Robby Gordon, a former Dakar stage winner, and his team created the third car. It was inspired by Trophy Trucks’ race in the Baja 1000. However, it features a unique chassis with racing suspension, air conditioning, and windows around. The V8 engine was provided by GM.
Rod Hall Racing was the last car on this list. This desert racer is based on Rod Hall Racing’s H3 Alpha, but has new suspension bushings and wiring. The car will be driven by Chad Hall, the driver of the SCORE International Baja 1000 2009.
