Sending love from South Africa
The CAR Buyers guide channel on Youtube decided that they would gather the top 10 South African trucks – or bakkies, as they are called there – to see which one can win an off-road drag racing. Although the selection of models is good, we get criticisms from users about engine selection and nonparity among some contenders.
Let’s look at some of the participants in this unusual drag race. The Ford Ranger model is the only one in this video that is available in the United States. It is powered by a 2.0-liter diesel motor with 177 horsepower (132kilowatts). It is compared to the Great Wall P-Series and JAC T8. JAC T8, Mazda BT-50. Mahindra Pickup. Mitsubishi Triton. Toyota Hilux. These are just a few examples of America’s compact truck segment.
The race is held in Klipbokkop mountain reserve, 4×4 testing facility. Ten competitors compete on a 200-meter stretch sand. Although the terrain isn’t too difficult for trucks, it certainly plays an important role in terms of traction. The larger engines have a clear advantage shortly after the race starts. Only a handful of trucks remain fighting for first place halfway through the race. It’s a close race for first place, and the truck with the biggest engine seems to win the title. It is surprising to see popular names being defeated by pickups that are less expensive, but again this could be due to differences in engine displacements and turbochargers.
