Audi has unveiled the 2014 RS6 Avant, hot on the heels this afternoon’s leak. It is essentially a supercar disguised as wagon.
Audi’s 2014 RS6 Avant has been officially revealed, hot on the heels of the leak this afternoon.
The model is described as an “high-performance sports car suitable for everyday use”, and strikes the right balance between being aggressive and elegant. Its front fascia is sporty with large air intakes, matte aluminium trim and a honeycomb mesh grille featuring “quattro”, badging. A tailgate-mounted spoiler, gloss black rear diffuser and 20-inch alloy wheels are located further back.

Its elegant styling continues to the cabin, which is filled with premium materials and high-end accents. Highlights include carbon fiber trim, leather / Alcantara sport seat covers and metallic accents. The model also features a flat-bottomed steering column, illuminated sill plates, and an MMI Navigation Plus infotainment system. The model is also available with a head-up display and a Bang & Olufsen 15-speaker audio system. It can also be connected to the internet.
The model’s twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 engine produces 560 HP (412kW) and 700 Nm (516lb-ft). The engine is linked to an eight speed tiptronic transmission, and a quattro four-wheel drive system with torque vectoring differential. The wagon can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, and reach a top speed at 250 km/h (15 mph), 280km/h (17 mph), and 305km/h (191 mph) when equipped with the Dynamic package.
The engine has start/stop technology, a cylinder on demand system that deactivates four-cylinders when not in use to maximize fuel efficiency and cylinder-on-demand technology. This allows the model to average 9.8 L/100km (24 MPG US), which is approximately 40 percent more than its predecessor.
The RS6 features high-performance brakes as well as an adaptive air suspension that has a reduced ride height of 20mm. For increased stability and reduced body roll, the company offers carbon ceramic brakes as well as an optional sport suspension with steel springs and three way adjustable shock absorbers.
The RS6 Avant will launch in the U.K. next Summer. Pricing is expected to start at around PS77,000.
