This supercar has traveled all over the globe. Your garage could be its new home.
Although it seems odd to consider a vehicle for $649,000 as cheap, this beautiful, dark-blue example is currently available in Miami.
The supercar’s seller claims that it has a fascinating story. BMW claimed that a former journalist was invited to purchase the car. It was one of the very last manufactured. The supercar was delivered to him in Germany and he then traveled with it for 36 years through South Africa, New Zealand Mexico, Arizona, Arizona, Mexico, Arizona and Miami. The M1 traveled just 8,078 miles (13,000 km) during that period.
From 1978 to 1981, BMW produced only 453 M1 units. According to the seller the car was one among 58 cars built in this dark blue color. The original Pirelli P7 tires are still included. The interior of the M1 is a mixture of black leather upholstery on the seats and black leather bolsters. A lot more cowhide embellishes the cabin. Blaupunkt’s 1980s stereo has been modified only to include an amazing equalizer at bottom of center stack.
The M1’s 3.5-liter inline 6 is mid-mounted and connects to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It produces 274 horsepower (204 Kilowatts) as well as 243 pound-feet (335 Newton-meters).
Initial plans for the M1 were to be a collaboration between Lamborghini, BMW. The project was abandoned by the Italians due to financial problems. BMW continued to work on the project and the first ever M model was completed.
The most expensive M1s that we’ve seen recently have been much more expensive. A white M1 was listed for $875,000 in May 2018. An April fully restored example was on sale for $930,000. An orange M1 was sold for $745,000 in 2017.
