We like to have a little bit of junk in our cars.
It didn’t take long. It was just a few hours before BMW presented the all-new 3 Series Sedan at the Paris Motor Show. The Photoshop stick was used to cut off the back doors of the roof and turn the rear half into a 4 Series Coupe. The sedan is now gaining weight to make it the new Touring in Europe, and the Sports Wagon in North America.
This render is based upon the 3er in Sport Line trim. We feel it’s accurate because these are the kind of changes that you would expect from a sedan to wagon transformation. The G21 is likely to be introduced by BMW in the early part of next year, possibly at the Geneva Motor Show. A few weeks earlier, an online unveiling could occur.
The launch of the new sedan in America does not mean the end of the old wagon. They will coexist for a while alongside the 3 Series Gran Turismo. The GT’s days may be over, as it is likely to disappear in 2020 without any replacement.
The long-roof 3 Series looks fantastic in non-M versions, so it should look even better in M3 Touring. We would love to see a BMW competitor for the Audi RS4 Avant or the Mercedes-AMG C63 in the M lineup. However, we have not heard from any sources within Bavaria. Although there was an official HTML3 Touring E46 in the past, it was a one-off.
It is obvious that the new 3 Series Sedan design will be reflected on the 4 Series family. The convertible was already captured with a fabric roofing replacing its hardtop.
