The Ecotec 2.0-liter turbocharged engine produces 255 horsepower (190 kW) as well as 295 lbft (400 Nm).
Buick is releasing new information on the Regal GS show vehicle, just in time for the North American International Auto Show. The GS is essentially a rebadged Opel OPC (except for the powertrain). It features a modified front end, a lower ride height, unique rocker panel, dual exhaust pipes and 20-inch wheels with high-performance tires. Buick also added a sport steering column, metal pedals and Recaro front chairs to the interior. The engine’s turbocharged Ecotec 2.0-liter Ecotec engine produces 255 horsepower (190 kW) as well as 295 lbft (400 Nm). The GS is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, an adaptive all-wheel drive system (with an electronic limit-slip rear differential), and a six speed manual transmission. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 6 seconds. Additional features include an Interactive Drive Control System, (IDCS), and Brembo brake system.
Craig Bierley, Buick’s product marketing manager said that the Regal GS was designed to “explore the appeal of a high performance Regal.” Although it isn’t a guarantee that the GS will be produced, it seems like GM might be considering it. Opel’s Insignia OPC has a 2.8 liter V6 single-scroll turbocharged ECOTEC motor with 325 hp. The same 2.0-liter turbo-ecotec engine in Opel produces 162 kW (220 PS, 217 hp).
