Novitec Fine-Tunes the McLaren 720S

You can modify the twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 engine to produce 794 horsepower.

Modifying exotic cars can be tricky because there is always the risk of making it look like a Need for Speed race car. Novitec is careful not to alter an original design. This is why their aftermarket projects are based on the “less is more” philosophy.

This McLaren looks just like what you would see as it leaves the Woking factory gates. But, it has been modified. The supercar’s appearance is heightened by subtle carbon fiber accents. The aero pack is a discrete package that includes headlight inserts and spoiler lips, side skirts and a rear diffuser, making the body appear a little more aggressive.

You will also find miscellaneous carbon bits such as ornaments for the front hood and rear engine cover, side intakes, side air intakes and door mirror caps. The sill entrance panels complete the carbon package. They remind you that this is not your average 720S.

Novitec is able to get rid of the stock wheels in order to make way for its forged set, which measures 20 inches at each end and 21 inches at the rear. Standard rims are available in black, silver, or anthracite, but Novitec will gladly paint them any color you like. You can pair the new shoes with a set lowering springs or aluminum wheel spacers to both axles.

The twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 engine also underwent some modifications. It no longer produces the stock 710 horsepower and 568 pounds-feet (770 Newton-meters), of torque. Novitec engineers were able to squeeze out a massive 794 horsepower and 648 lb.ft (878 Nm) of torque.

The McLaren can complete the journey from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 2.7 seconds, or two tenths faster than the standard car. Additionally, the car can hit 124 mph (200 km/h) from a standing stop in 7.5 seconds. This is a decrease of 0.3 seconds. It can reach 215 mph (or 346 kph) flat out, which is slightly more than the standard model 720S.

You can complement the upgraded V8 engine with a custom exhaust system featuring stainless steel end tips. Or, if you want to go all out, an Inconel exhaust is available with or without Novitec’s flap control module. This allows the driver to alter the exhaust’s note.
