The Mitsubishi RVR is an evolution of the Concept CX compact crossover that was shown at the 2007 Geneva show. The first details and pictures of the new car are available.
We told you earlier this year about Mitsubishi’s plans for a small crossover, , based on the Concept-cX. This was in February 2010. Photos of the Mitsubishi RVR have been released by the Japanese automaker.
The RVR compact crossover will be powered by a new 1.8-liter MIVEC petrol motor (the concept used an old clean diesel). This engine was tuned to deliver a high fuel economy rating. The vehicle’s efficiency and emissions, horsepower, torque, and horsepower were not specified. Although the concept model was 4WD, there is no information yet about which wheels will power the production model.
The lightweight vehicle is placed below the Outlander and measures approximately 4.3 meters long (Toyota Belta). The Concept-cX is 200mm shorter than this vehicle, but it’s still significantly smaller than the Honda CR-V and Toyota Rav4, as well as the BMW X1. The new model is slightly longer than the Concept-cX, but has a more square nose. It’s also slightly wider in the rear.
The concept’s daytime LEDs and the integrated center brake light in the rear bumper were dropped. Mitsubishi chose a more regular design instead of the bi-color, oddly-shaped hatch. It’s better for it. The trapizoid-shaped grille at the front is still in use. However, the middle separation has been made body-colored and the whole piece is surrounded by a chrome-colored ring. These enhance the concept design.
The Mitsubishi RVR could make its debut at the NAIAS or Geneva Motor Show. The three-year anniversary of its conceptual introduction in Geneva would be celebrated with a Geneva debut. The car will be sold in Mitsubishi showrooms throughout Asia, Europe and North America.
