Impossible Future
What if Audi allows the R8 to live?
The evidence continues to mount that the Audi R8 does not have a 3rd generation. Rain Prisk, a talented rendering artist, sees a brighter future in which the German supercar will survive a bit longer.
Prisk’s design combines elements from the PB18 E-Tron Concept and his own cues. This model shares the same low-set nose as the previous generations. It also features an angular grille. Below them are triangular-shaped LED strips that provide headlights and unusual-looking driving lamps.
What’s the Future for The R8?
Prisk still shows the R8’s distinctive sideblades on the rendering of the third-generation model. However, they would look much better in a contrasting colour due to the fact that so many customers have ordered the fashionable design element in a contrasting hue. This fictitious supercar’s low roofline and flat rear deck could hinder outward visibility.
Rumours suggest that Audi is working on a supercar with an entirely electric powertrain, even though the R8 is in its final days. According to the Four Rings, the model would be called the E-Tron. It would produce around 650 horsepower (485kilowatts) using three electric motors. The battery, which can run for 95 kilowatts per hour, is said to have a range of approximately 300 miles (483 km). Wireless charging allows owners to charge their vehicle wirelessly without having to plug it in.
Although rumors have circulated that Audi might offer the R8 with a twin turbo V6, Audi executives remain insistent that the V10 will remain the sole engine for their supercar. Major powertrain changes are unlikely as the model is likely to be on sale for only a few years more. This is because Audi would rather invest in the future than make a car so close to retirement.
