Peugeot 208 GTi rendering previews a Sexy Hot Hatch from France
This hatchback looks very promising.
Peugeot has just released the new 208. We can only say that it looks amazing. The 208, the French brand’s supermini, will be competing against the new Renault Clio and Ford Fiesta. The 208 is a completely new design and will be a strong contender in this highly competitive segment.
The new model will be available in Access, Active and Allure trims. We will see the GTi suffix on a hot hatch later in the car’s lifetime. This rendering shows the design of the pocket rocket.
The two-tone body color combination is probably the most striking feature of the 208 GTi. As we have seen in the larger 308 GTi, the red-and-black color combination is now a trademarked colour for fast Peugeots. The supermini also gets new bumpers that have larger air intakes and a different radiator grille. It also has fancy twin-spoke five-tone wheels with large red brake discs.
Everything You Need to Know About the New 208
The previous generation of 208 GTi was powered by a high-output 1.6 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine. It produced 200 horsepower (147 kilowatts), and 203 pound feet (275 Newton-meters), of torque. The motor was mated to a six speed manual transmission and achieved 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration in just 6.5 seconds. The new model will retain the same powertrain configuration, with a turbocharged small displacement ICE and a stick shift gearbox.
We are hopeful that the new 208 GTi will be once more one of the most attractive hot hatches in supermini segments. The real thing will be revealed only after at least one year.
