The list of deadliest new cars includes the Mitsubishi Mirage and Chevrolet Corvette.
A list of the most dangerous cars in America has been compiled by iSeeCars.com , an automotive search engine and research firm. The data was taken from accidents involving vehicles manufactured between 2013 and 2017.
Data came from the U.S. Fatality Analysis Reporting System, (FARS) These figures were calculated for fatal accident rates per billion miles driven. Although cars are safer today than they were twenty years ago, not all cars are as safe.
The published list includes 14 cars that were most likely to be involved in fatal accidents. This list only includes small economy and sports cars.
The Mitsubishi Mirage, and Chevrolet Corvette were the top-ranked cars. The Mirage had 10.2 vehicles with fatalities due to accidents per billion miles driven, while the Corvette had 9.8. The average rating of all new cars is 2.6 fatal accidents per billion miles.
The list also included other sports cars like the Chevrolet Camaro The Dodge Challenger The Nissan 370Z, and Subaru BRZ. The list also included economy cars Kia Rio, Kia Soul , Nissan Versa Note, and Chevrolet Spark.
Although small, affordable economy cars can be very valuable, they may not have many of the same safety features as more expensive models. Sports cars on the other side can reach higher speeds and are more likely be driven aggressively. Unfortunately, this leads to additional vehicle deaths. As our parents told us as teenagers: High speed = more danger
These numbers are low for even the most dangerous cars. Even the most dangerous new cars are safer than the older models from decades ago. Be careful driving. Nobody wants to be a cold statistic somewhere.
