The production model will be available for Japanese customers with a petrol-electric hybrid engine with 100 HP.
Leaked brochures for the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market), Toyota Prius c have been released.
A concept car was used to preview the Prius c last January in Detroit. We now have a glimpse at the production model before its official debut at Tokyo’s motor show in December.
The brochure details the Prius c, the smallest vehicle in the Prius family of vehicles that Toyota is introducing at an incredibly rapid pace. The Prius c is a compact urban-tourer measuring 3,995mm (157 inches), 1,695mm (66.7 inches), and 1,445mm (57 inches).
A petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain produces power from a 1.4-liter unit that has 74 PS (54kW/73 hp), 111 Nm (82/82 lbft) and an electric motor which produces 61 PS (45kW/60 hp and 169 Nm (135 lbft). Although the transmission is a CVT, the maximum combined output is only 100 PS (74kW/99 hp).
Although the Prius c’s fuel economy rating is good, Japanese standards are different so these numbers may not be the same as those you’ll see in the North American or European versions. Toyota claims that the Prius c in Japan will be rated at 35.4 km/liter, or 2.8 liters/100km (83.3 mpg US).
In January, the North American debut of the Toyota Prius c at Detroit’s Auto Show will be held. The European debut is expected to take place at the Geneva auto salon in March.
