Aston Martin Vantage and DB11 Successors will be fully electric

In 2025, the first of these EVs will arrive.

Tobias Moers, CEO of Aston Martin tells Automotive News Europe that the next-gen vantage as well as DB11 will be using electric powertrains. Although it is not known if this will be the Vantage or DB11’s replacement, the first of these EVs will arrive in 2025.

Moers stated, “The succession to our traditional sports segment must be full electric,”

Aston Martin will offer a plug-in hybrid version of the DBX before it goes fully electric. A mid-engine version of the DBX will be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It will sit below the Valkyrie or Valhalla. It will reportedly draw inspiration from Vanquish Vision concept.

Aston Martin will partner with Mercedes to source these EV components, but with Aston-specific tuning. The range they’ll be able to travel is 372 miles (600 km). Moers says that the models will retain their brand’s identity.

“How you experience the brand is the customer journey. These are the things that will make a difference,” he said to Automotive News Europe. It will be about the customer experience, driving dynamics, and how we serve them.

Aston Martin’s March 2021 shareholder report stated that all its road-going vehicles would be electrified by 2030. The lineup will include 50 percent BEVs and 45 percent hybrids. The remaining 5 percent would run on combustion, but they would be track-only.

Aston Martin has just fully launched its new Valhalla. It packs a Mercedes-AMG-sourced, rear-mid-mounted twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 and an electric motor. This setup produces 937 horsepower (699 Kilowatts) as well as 738 pound-feet (1,001 Newton-meters) in torque. The range of an EV-only vehicle is only nine miles (15 km).
