Audi Q9 Swears Its Big Body Around Nurburgring

Audi may have a bigger crossover in the works.

Audi believes there’s room for more crossovers in today’s auto industry. These spy photos show the German premium automaker creating a new utility model to complement its existing lineup. This is most likely the Q9. It would be above the Q7 , Q8 , and Q7 .

Audi engineers covered this large rig with lots of camouflage to hide the design. A massive grille is found in front of the vehicle that looks like a fish’s mouth. The vehicle’s headlights, which are small and located in the upper corners of its face, are very tiny.

This profile view shows the Audi’s size. The profile is boxy and has a blunt nose. The roofline is flat. It is possible that the camouflage will be removed and some sculpting would take place to the body panels in order to prevent the luxury model becoming too slab-sided.

The spoiler covers the upper part of the rear window at the back. The bumper and lower hatchback have prominently sculpted elements which add visual flair to the tail.

Three rows of seating will likely be available due to the size of this model. There is a trend in ultra-luxurious models such as the Mercedes Maybach GLS and Land Rover Range Rover Range Rover SV to offer a two-row layout that provides ample legroom for rear passengers. Audi could also do something similar.

It is still unknown what powertrains are available for the Q9. Audi’s efforts to reduce emissions make it likely that the Q9 will be a hybrid or plug-in hybrid.

Rumours suggest that the 2022 debut is possible. This vehicle also sports the camouflage Audi uses to send models to China. It is possible that it might be sold in China and the United States, but not in Europe.
