BMW X6 Updated with New Interior and Lots Of Screens

The coupe-crossover has a lot of moving parts.

We tried the new BMW X6 around 15 months ago. The original coupe-crossover was more refined than ever, and it comes with the most powerful engines BMW have to offer. Bavarian manufacturer, BMW, is planning a facelift to the current X6. This is less than two years since the third-generation model was launched.

The first spy photos of the refreshed X6 are now available. They show significant changes inside the cabin, but we’ll get there in a moment. Let’s start with the exterior. The exterior isn’t much to discuss as the prototype has no camouflage, which suggests that BMW is not yet ready to reveal the updated design.

The headlights of the X6 on sale seem different. These clusters appear to be temporary and were only used to make the prototype road legal. After seeing the test car, our spy told us that the X6 will likely get reshaped headlights and new internal graphics.

The cabin is much more interesting. This prototype has a large, curved housing that houses two screens. One for the infotainment system, one for digital instrument cluster. We can see more inside, including additional testing equipment and an old-fashioned keyboard.

BMW is expected to integrate HVAC controls into the new X6’s central screen. Although the physical buttons from the current model are still present in the test car, there is a sticker in German that states the buttons are not functional. It is worth noting that the gear shifter has been reduced in size, but this may not be its final design.

The new X6 is expected to arrive in the next 10-12 months. The early prototype suggests that the interior changes will be larger, but exterior tweaks might also be possible.
